NASCAR: 2010 Daytona 500 Preview
For over 50 years the start of the NASCAR season kicks off with the running of the biggest race of the year, The Daytona 500. This exciting race usually lives up to its billing. Forty-three cars will take the green flag on February 14, 2010 and only one will speed into the winner’s circle at the end.
Jimmie Johnson is the defending NASCAR points champ, and he will look to start strong by winning Daytona. He goes off at 7-1 odds.
Mark Martin will be the sentimental pick all year long, and especially at The 500. Mark is a good bet at 10-1.
Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, and Tony Stewart are next to consider. All have good cars and great teams, put them each at 15-1.
The next pack will be hoping to qualify on or near the pole and get off to a good start. This group includes Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, and Matt Kenseth. Ryan and Matt have both won Daytona and that alone gets them 18-1 odds.
Juan Pablo Montoya has been improving each and every year. This might be his year, he stands at 25-1.
A couple longer shots include Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne at 40-1. And one flyer might be the other Busch Brother, Kyle. If he doesn’t wreck, he’s worth a look at 75-1.
