Brian Vickers

Brian Vickers sits exactly where he left off last year. Last year he finished in 12th place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup points standings and is currently in the same position in the standings, sitting 164 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson.

Vickers has managed no top 5 finishes on the year so far.  This comes a year after ending with a fourth place finish. With 2 top 10 finishes and three more top 15 finishes he has been able to hold down the 12th spot in the standings despite not being able to crack the top 5 so far on the year.

The weak point this year has been the 31st finish at Las Vegas. He sits one point behind Menard in the points standings and had he not finished so poorly at Las Vegas he would easily have pushed ahead of him.

If Vickers intends on competing in the standings this year he will need to boot the 30th place finishes and stay within the top twenty.  He cannot afford to have those on his score card.

Last year Vickers crew did a great job of putting great cars on the track. They were able to win 6 polls in 36 races last year which is a very impressive number. It’s a great advantage to start off ahead of the pack in any race.

If his team can help him get those polls again by putting a great car on the track, Vickers could even sneak into the top 10 of the standings this season. Vickers has never cracked the top 10 of the points standings in his career, so it would be a milestone for him and his crew to be able to finish in that category.
