Clint Bowyer
Clint Bowyer has had a pleasantly strong start to this season sitting at the 9th spot in the points standings after 6 races. Bowyer looked like he had the potential to be one of the top drivers in the league after finishing in the top 5 two years in a row in 2007 and 2008 but has since dropped to the middle of the pack. Last year he finished as the 5th best driver in the standings.
Bowyer has proven to have the ability this year to finish strong as he has had 4 top ten finishes so far this season. In his first 4 races of the year he was able to take the lead in each race, showing that he has the ability to get to the front if things go well.
It seems as though Bowyer hit a rough patch in Bristol and Atlanta, where after he was in the top ten for the first three races he managed only a 40th place finish in Bristol and a 23rd place finish in Atlanta. It seems that Bowyer has since got his act back together, rebounding from those poor finishes to achieve 7th place in Martinsville.
One thing to notice is that Bowyer managed to have top 10 starting positions in the first two races but has failed to do so since. It seems that other crews may be finding and making the adjustments necessary to compete and Bowyer will need a solid car if he wants to win some races this year.
Bowyer has won only 2 races in his entire career and will need to step up his game if he hopes to advance into the top level of drivers again.
