Greg Biffle
Greg Biffle has shown that he can be a very strong driver after watching him compete in six races this season. Each year a driver will participate in about 36 races on the season. Prior to this season, Biffle’s career high for top 10 finishes in a season was 21 top 10’s. Compare that to the 6 top ten finishes in just 6 races this season and it is obvious to see that Biffle has been having a career year, driving well in each race.
Posting a competitive finish with each race will be key in Biffle’s efforts to take the cup away from Jimmie Johnson this season. Johnson is near the front of the finishers every race and if Biffle wants to compete he needs to be there with him.
Biffle has been exceeding all expectations this season, coming off of a 7th place finish last year. Two years ago he finished in third place and many and he looks to be getting back into that top 5 form. Biffle has managed to prove critics wrong so far this year by having a turnaround season.
So far Biffle is just 14 points behind Johnson in the standings, but Johnson has been turning up the heat as of late with a few wins. Out of Biffle’s 6 top ten finishes just two of them this year have been in the top five. It is important that Biffle finds a way to win some races as the season moves on because Johnson seems to win every other race and racks up a ton of points in the process.
The key for Biffle may be to win a few poles and start out on top. He has driven well during the races but his starting position has only been in the top 10 twice this season.
