Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson has been at the top of the racing sport for four consecutive years coming into 2010 and seeks to continue to his dominance this year. Four years ago Johnson had never won a major NASCAR series but has since become one of the most dominant drivers in the history of the sport with his four consecutive Sprint Cup victories.

Johnson started the year with a tough finish at the Daytona 500 where he ended up in 35th place, but has afterwards he really turned it on. Following the Daytona 500 Johnson raced in California where he was absolutely amazing.

In California Johnson led the race for 101 laps of the race, winning the whole thing and grabbed big points in the standings for a 195 point total at the race. From there Johnson has continued his strong effort in winning 2 more races, and placing in the top 10 in another. Since Daytona, where he did not make a good showing for himself, Jimmie Johnson’s worst finish of the season has been a 12th place finish at Atlanta.

Right now Johnson is back on track to take his 5th consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup championship if he can only keep the pace that he is on right now. He is first in the Cup standings with 898 points on the season so far.  That point total puts him 14 points in front of the second place driver in the Cup Standings at this point in the still young season.

Johnson has all of the tools and is the favorite to take it all the way for the 5th year running.
